Blue Beetle #2

This issue we learn more about the suit.  It can create 5 claws in each hand that can slice through villains.  It can generate ‘non-leathal’ drone bugs than subdue security guards.  It can create wings to fly, and it can create a force field that stops bullets. It also talks to the wearer. But one thing it cannot do is keep in puke.  It manages to let that go pretty easily.

So I after Blue Beetle fought the villains he crashed a party.  Why he calls them ‘Super-Vatos’ I don’t know.  I don’t speak Spanish but that seem a bit odd.  I’d be offended a little if I knew enough about Hispanic culture to know if I should or should not be.  As it is, I’m a little offended, but unsure why.

So he crashes a Quinceanera just in time to get shot at.  I guess Casa Cardenas must have security issues, because they start shooting right away.

The art is generally solid.  He has a flair for faces and expressions and does a good job with the birthday girl and her mother.  One thing he does well is break out of the panel structure.  That is where objects from one panel are soo big they stick out into another.  He does it almost every page, as bad guys jut out beyond their borders.  And the suit wings fly outside the box.  Large lava dudes are too big to fit, so his head sticks out a bit.  It provides a good sense of size and motion.
