This book is rated T+. That is designed for older Teens. Although if it was a movie, it would be rated R, and even then the studio would probably ask them to tone it down. It starts with a throat slitting, then a head is cut in half, a torso split, a disembowelment, a knife to the top of the head, a knife to the forehead, and a bottle to the eye. Later two more decapitation and body split in half.
That is a lot in one issue. It was all done a bit over the top, so you don’t take it all the serious. Plus the fact the one of the villains has brain in a jar. Also, Road Rage might be the silliest villain we have seen a while. His feet are small motorcycle treads. Yeah, I know it sound stupid, but it looks even worse. But at least he has chrome body armor with exhaust pipes. I counted 6 exhaust pipes. I think the writer wants to hate him as gross-pollution causer, but we just hate for the name alone.
The art is great. Bennet has great knack for story telling. In a bar fight we can tell where each of combatants were during the fight. He sets up the next kill but showing the positions of the people while he is showing the first kill. He also sets up some memorable thugs. I was actually sorry to see some of them die they looked so interesting. Brain dude with a gas mask, hot chick with orange fin on her head, scaly dude. All more personality than most artist give to stock villains. Also, the inker Art Thibert is about the best there is. There are some very fine lines in the hairs and costumes that a lesser artist would have ignored. Everything gets better when he inks them.
