This book is rate T+ for a reason. Even most Vertigo comics don’t push the boundaries this far. It starts off with Catwoman and Batman in the after math of love, and ends with a brutal beating.
There is some good storytelling in this issue. It starts by comparing their sex with a bar fight. With double meaning illustrations to go along with it. I’m not sure Batman is the smartest man when it comes to love. This isn’t their first time together (so she says) and he does have a kid with Talia from many years ago (Robin).
I like the charity scene. Bruce flirting with Catwoman. I guess they haven’t met much, because he is just now discovering that she is Catwoman. I like his fake drunkenness and their flirtations. It was a good contrast that she had just left Batman and now was attracted to Bruce as well.
The art seems to be getting even better. The agility that Catwoman shows as she is wrapped around Bruce (upside down) for a kiss. The joy she shows as she triumphantly jumps into the night sky with a bag of money. But the best is the scene of her friend in the chair. It is quite horrific in it is subject matter, but has a lot of things I didn’t notice as first. The cats are licking up some of the blood on the floor, and even the shadow of Catwoman shows emotion and structure.
