Savage Hawkman #2

What should be a simple story seems very complex.  I had to reread the comic twice and I”m still not sure I understand what is going on.

Morphicus (stupid name) drains Hawkman of the Nth metal he just got in his blood.  Morp drains him and it burns his blood, but he likes it.

Then Hawkman wills a firestorm to attack Morph which Morh finds to be too much energy.  Then Morp explodes?  Why?  Hawk thinks it is a failed teleportation.  Why does he think this?  Is Hawkman an expert?  It doesn’t make sense.  Why would he guess that and not a million other things.

Then they fight, Hawkman looses control because his ‘flight is messed with’ and then Morph brags that he has more control over the Nth metal after a few seconds than Hawkman does.  He says that the Nth metal is giving up on Hawkman.

The villain then leaves Hawkman with a promise to take more from him later.  What it is we do not know.  They have been talking about Nth metal a lot, so that might be it?

Later at NIAS, Dr Kane gives into the feds as long has his ‘methods’ are not on the record.  We find that he is wiping monkey brains in order to make a weapon.

Dr Kane then has a secret conversation. He says that they don’t have ‘custody of the subject’ but that he has his best ‘hunter on the trail’.

Later Hawkman runs from the police because the Nth metal ‘is telling him that he is ready to control it’.  He talks to metal?  or metal just talks to him?  Crazy.  Then he jumps out a window and yells ‘Bastard’.  Why does he do that?  Is Geronimo taken?  I guess he has to yell something.

The Nth metal then makes Morph’s power of flight fight against him.  That makes very little sense, but we have to go with it.  And the Nth metal is making him weak, and confuses him [I know how he feels].  It pulls him to the ground where we learn about a convoluted alien war.  The last Vexaphon has invaded the mind of Morp.  His name is Waker, and he has been sent to save the life of his natural enemy.

We then learn that Hawkman doesn’t pay his bills, but does have access to a mystery chest that can pay for all his outstanding costs.  What is in it?  We don’t know.  But we do learn that he can read an Alien text now.  Also we learn that he gets angry that people take advantage of Alzheimer’s sufferers.  I don’t know why, but it all seems kind of random.

We then learn that Morp is dying.  And his cellular structure is rejecting ‘his last acquisition’.  I guess that means the Nth metal he absorbed from Hawkman?

Dr Kane was going to let him die, but Waker is struck down for touching ‘the leader’ [Dr Kane].  He was struck down by Asakana, who we had not seen previously.  We then learn the master plan is ‘The Extinction Virus’!

That is a lot of stuff to throw into one story.  And it all comes without any setup.  Just random stuff thrown at you.  But the art is mostly nice.
