Teen Titans

The teen titans started out as collection of sidekicks.  But morphed into a collection of teen heroes.  Over time the teen sidekicks would grow up and into adult heroing. And new teen heroes would come.

This team is headed by Red Robin.  The Batman related character that does not have his own book at relaunch.  The rest of the team involves WonderGirl, Superboy, Kid Flash, and some people on the cover that we don’t see (not the real cover is not the one shown here).  Some spikey girl, some smoke girl, and some dude with big hands.  Hopefully we will see them soon?

The story is fast moving, and the characters seem well defined.  We have seen these people before, so it helps that we know them already.  I think we get a good idea about Kid Flash’s personality, and that of Wonder Girl, but from this issue alone I’m not sure we know Red Robin’s.  But the story does give a good sense of ‘teen’ without forcing Justin Bieber references down the audience’s throat.

The art is great and proves some very good detail. Both has a really good sense of design.  His page layouts often are varied and unique.  He will put inset panels in larger panels (smaller panel inside a larger panel), or diagonal panels.  All give a good sense of action and dynamism.
